Spanish Cinema Jove Int’l filmfest hosting Iran’s ‘Talker’

The 36th Cinema Jove Int’l Film Festival in Spain is hosting Iranian short ‘Talker’.

The 36th edition of the Cinema Jove International Film Festival in Spain has been hosting the Iranian short ‘Talker’.

Directed by Mehrshad Ranjbar, the Iranian 13-minute flick tells the story of an old woman who has taken care of her sick husband for many years, but an incident disturbs the order of her life.

The cast list of the short film includes Maryam Nourafkan and Abbas Jalallou.

‘Talker’ has so far competed at several global events, including the Palencia International Film Festival in Spain, the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, the Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan, the Medina Film Festival in Spain, and the Faludi International Film Festival and Photo Competition in Hungary, where it won the best short feature award.

Set to compete at the Ischia Film Festival in Italy, the short also grabbed the Grand Prix at the Kyoto International Student Film & Video Festival in Japan and the best film award of student film competition at the Tirana International Film Festival in Albania.

“For its unique poetic film language, for its concise artistic choices and its great usage of its space, for how the film feeds the slow narrative force exclusively through powerful silent images to result in a beautiful mosaic of quotidian life of an old couple shot in a cinematic way,” the jury of the Tirana event wrote.

The Cinema Jove is now among the top most important international film festivals held in Spain.

The 36th edition of the Cinema Jove International Film Festival runs June 18-26, 2021.
